What can Avocado Leads do on each platform?

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Avocado Leads can find engaged people on all six platforms and reach out on all six, but only in the ways each platform itself allows: Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Facebook and TikTok people can be followed or sent a request, and Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Reddit people can be messaged (LinkedIn only for first-degree connections). Facebook and TikTok messages are not sent by Avocado Leads: you send them yourself, and Avocado Leads records them.

Below is one comparison table, then a short section per platform. For how Avocado Leads paces what it sends, read safety and platform rules; for the full sequence, see how Avocado Leads works.

Platform comparison

Capture, outreach and messaging by platform
PlatformWhat can be capturedOutreach actionMessaging ruleNotable limits
InstagramFollowers and following of a profile, search results, people who commented on or liked a post or reel.Follow (a follow request if the account is private).Direct message. It lands in their inbox if they follow you, otherwise in message requests. No follow needed first.Throttled by Instagram: a capture session stops at the first rate limit and waits for a person to resume. A private profile you do not follow cannot be captured. No unfollow action. Replying privately to a comment is not supported.
LinkedInPost commenters, people search, company employees, company, job and post search. Followers and following only for your own account.Connect: an invitation, with an optional note, that they must accept.Only first-degree connections. Anyone else would need InMail, which Avocado Leads does not send.LinkedIn does not publish an invitation limit and can restrict a high rate of invitations. People who reacted to a post cannot be listed; commenters are captured instead.
XPeople who replied to a post, followers and following of an account, and search results. Likers of someone else’s post are not visible.Follow (a follow request if the account is protected).Direct message only when X says they accept messages from you: their DMs are open, or they follow you. A one-way follow is not enough.Protected accounts’ follower lists are readable only by approved followers. No unfollow action.
RedditPeople who commented on a post, user search and post search. Reddit shows no follower lists, so recent commenters on a user’s posts are captured instead.Follow, effective immediately (Reddit has no approval step).Reddit Chat message. No follow and no acceptance needed first, unless the person does not accept messages.Subreddit or account-age rules can still refuse a message when it is sent. Some recipient-setting checks come from documented Reddit behaviour that has not been seen in a live run.
FacebookPeople who commented on a post, members of a group you can see, and search results. Follower and following lists are only partly available; Pages and public figures show reaction totals, not who reacted.Friend request when Facebook offers one, otherwise a follow. Not possible. Avocado Leads cannot send Messenger messages. Some profiles, especially public figures, offer no friend request. A Facebook profile page must be open in your browser for the relationship check.
TikTokPeople who commented on a video, followers and following of an account, and search results. Accounts that hide their lists cannot be read.Follow, sent through TikTok’s own page (confirmed live on 21 October 2026; an earlier attempt on 15 October was refused, so it is paced and not guaranteed). Needs a TikTok tab signed in as the sending account. Not offered. TikTok only allows messages between people who follow each other.Follows are paced by the same safety windows as the other networks. Messages are not sent: follow and message people in the TikTok app yourself.
Everything runs in your own signed-in browser session. What is possible depends on what the platform shows that session, on your relationship with each person, and on the person’s own settings. Avocado Leads checks the relationship before it sends and skips anyone the platform will not let you reach.

Instagram: follow, then message with or without a follow

A follow is instant on a public account and becomes a request on a private one. A message goes to their inbox if they follow you and to message requests if they do not, so you can message without following. Avocado Leads checks the relationship first and skips people who are blocked or who Instagram says cannot be messaged.

Not possible: replying privately to a comment, and unfollowing. Instagram throttles activity and does not publish a number you can rely on, so a capture session stops at the first rate limit and waits for you to resume it.

LinkedIn: connect first, message only connections

Connect sends an invitation that the person has to accept. A message works only for first-degree connections. Anyone else is InMail-only, which Avocado Leads does not send.

LinkedIn does not publish a limit for invitations and may restrict accounts that send many, so Avocado Leads stops when LinkedIn answers with a limit. You can capture the commenters on a post but not the people who reacted, and you can only read the followers of your own account.

X: follow, message when X allows it

Follow is instant on a public account and a request on a protected one. A message works only when X says they accept messages from you, which is when their DMs are open or they follow you.

Likes on a post are visible to the post’s author only, so there is no list of likers for someone else’s post. Capture the people who replied instead.

Reddit: follow works at once, messages need no follow

Follow works at once, because Reddit has no approval step. Messages go through Reddit Chat and need no follow.

Reddit does not expose follower lists, so Avocado Leads captures the commenters on a user’s posts instead. A person who does not accept messages, or a subreddit or account-age rule, can still stop a message when it is sent.

Facebook: friend requests and follows, no messages

Avocado Leads sends a friend request when Facebook offers one, otherwise it follows. It cannot send Messenger messages at all, so a Facebook message step in a campaign is skipped.

Public figures and some strict profiles show no Add Friend option; in that case use Follow on their profile in Facebook yourself if it is offered. Messenger moved to an encrypted real-time connection that cannot be driven from a web session.

TikTok: capture and follow

Avocado Leads can follow on TikTok. The follow is made by TikTok’s own page, so nothing is forged: one follow was confirmed live on 21 October 2026, and an earlier attempt on 15 October was refused, so a refusal is possible and is never retried blindly. It cannot message: TikTok only allows messages between people who follow each other, and that route is switched off.

You can capture the commenters on a video and the followers or following of an account to build a list, follow people from a campaign, and message them in the TikTok app yourself.

Are these the official APIs?

No. Avocado Leads works through your own signed-in browser session, not through official developer integrations. Official routes would be a separate integration with their own consent and review, and for Instagram and Facebook the official routes offer no way to follow or message strangers.
